Outback Adventurer in the NT

Written by: Allan Dixon of Ireland

What does your job entail?

The job is basically to document and showcase how great the Northern Territory is to come here on a holiday or for work. This would be through either film or photography of events, festivals, adventures, and outback tours. Another aspect is to try "days-in-the-life" of other local jobs at cattle stations, hospitality and crocodile farms. You never know what surprise is around the corner.

What are you most looking forward to about your job?

There isn't one specific thing. It the fact that the jobs as a whole allows me to travel around the Northern Territory and experience every great adventure it has to offer.

What you've loved so far about Australia?

I've loved the hot sunny weather. It's a cool predictable thirty-two degrees nearly everyday. What more could you want?!

What were you most surprised about?

I'm surprised about just how many things I get to do and experience. My schedule changes weekly so I don't know what I'll be doing around the corner. I could be helping out with crocodiles in crocosaurus cove or heading to Kakadu National Park for an indigenous experience.

What's the best backpacker job you've come across so far?

One of the best backpacker jobs I've come across is an English girl that started working for a helicopter company. She was hired to clean them and since day one, she's being flown across the NT to help out at different airport bases and now gets to go to events that the helicopters have been leased for.
