2010 World Traveler Internship in Australia
Our Interns will experience 12 amazing days of adventure including surfing Bondi Beach, hiking the Blue Mountains, and traveling the Great Ocean Road, plus exploring the east coast of Tasmania guided by our adventure operator, ATA.
Here's the full itinerary for the third leg of this summer of travel around the world.
|16-19||Sydney, Australia||Arrive in Sydney and enjoy some free time to catch up on blogs and videos, get in some sightseeing and get used to the Aussie accent.|
|20||Sydney Harbour||Today you'll explore one of the most famous harbors in the world, Sydney Harbour, with a hop-on-hop-off cruise! The famous Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, and the Botanic Gardens are all stops on this adventure. Get off when you want, look around, then board the next cruise boat that comes along.|
|21||Blue Mountains||Spend the day exploring the beautiful Blue Mountains! A World Heritage site, the Blue Mountains are a short distance from Sydney but you'll think you're a world away. The day includes guided bushwalks, spectacular lookouts and full picnic lunch. Plus, keep the camera handy because you're going to see kangaroos.|
Spend the day learning to surf at the world famous Bondi Beach! You'll spend the whole day learning the ropes of surfing plus you'll get a tour inside Australia's oldest surf lifesaving club. A delicious lunch or dinner of fresh seafood right on the beach is also included.

|25||Aussie Wildlife Park||
Spend today visiting an Aussie Wildlife Park! Cuddle a baby wombat, hand feed the kangaroos and get up close and friendly with koalas and other native wildlife. Then it's on to Phillip Island, known for its natural beauty, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and unique wildlife experiences. Check out the giant surf at Woolamai Beach then take a swim or a tranquil coastal walk. Stroll the Nobbies boardwalk to view the majestic rocky coast, home to a colony of fur seals. Then it's time for the Penguin Parade - the world's littlest penguins emerge from the sea and waddle ashore. It's a truly magical and unforgettable procession.

|27||Fly to Hobart, Tasmania||Depart Melbourne for Hobart, where you'll meet your tour group. (FYI, you're still in Australia, just on the island territory of Tasmania.)|
Head northeast through the changing landscape of heritage farms, forests and mining towns for an afternoon at the Bay of Fires. Here, you can stroll along the gleaming white sands or a swim in the clear turquoise water. You'll stay overnight in the seaside township of Bicheno. After dinner, enjoy an optional local guided tour to see nesty fairy penguins.
|29||Port Arthur||Hike the stunning Freycinet National Park and enjoy magnificent views of Wineglass Bay and beyond. From here trek on to Wineglass Beach from the lookout or, for those more adventurous, climb to the top of Mount Amos. Then head south to Port Arthur where you'll stop to enjoy a rainforest walk along the way. Tonight, take the optional spine-chilling Port Arthur Ghost Tour.|
|30||Hobart||Spend the morning exploring the Port Arthur Historic Site and take a boat cruise around the harbor. Next, you'll visit Remarkable Cave and a range of other spectacular coastal sites on the Tasman Peninsula on your way back to Hobart|
