What is the STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card?
The STA Travel ISIC Prepaid MasterCard offers the combination of a Student ID Card and a Prepaid Card. The payment function of your Prepaid Card allows you to spend the money that you have loaded onto it. This makes it a convenient alternative to carrying cash abroad and it can be a more cost effective solution than debit or credit cards.

What is a prepaid card?
Prepaid Cards look just like a credit or debit card, with a 16 digit card number, chip and signature strip. But unlike credit cards – which provide a source of credit, and debit cards – which are linked to your bank account, you spend what you load on the Card, helping you to stay in control of your spending money while abroad. You can use the STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card at over 35 million locations worldwide, including 2 million ATMs – wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance Mark.

If it’s a MasterCard card, is it a credit card?
No, your STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card is not a credit card but offers you most of the functionality you would expect from a MasterCard Card. You’re Chip and PIN Card does not offer credit or overdraft facilities. You must load funds onto the card before you spend. Only spend what you load.

What are the top features?
There are many features of the STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card; the Card is accepted in over 35 million locations and in over 2 million ATMs worldwide. In addition to the payment function the Card can also be used as proof of ID and gives you access to thousands of discounts^ in the USA and abroad.^ You can also manage your account online.

What discounts am I entitled to as an ISIC cardholder?
You can view all the discounts^ available with an ISIC Discount Card at www.myisic.com.^

You need to request activation of your Card for online discounts at https://activate.isic.org/activation. Please note, once you’ve submitted your Card activation request, your details will be checked by our team.

You will be notified about your Card activation via the email you provided within 2 working days.

APPLYING FOR THE CARD

Who can apply for the card?
To get an STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card you need to be over 18 years old, a US resident and provide proof of study at a US University or College. You may also need to provide ID if we cannot confirm your identity electronically.**

How do I purchase a card?
You can purchase an STA Travel ISIC Prepaid MasterCard online, click here http://www.statravel.com/cash-card.htm .

You can also apply by visiting an ISIC Issuing Office on or near your campus.

How much does the card cost?
The STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card costs $35 - composed of $25 for the ISIC discount Card which includes basic travel insurance^ plus an additional $10 for the Prepaid Card.

Do I need a bank account?
You don’t need a bank account to get an STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card.

Do I need to pass a credit check?
No, because this is a Prepaid Card, rather than a credit card we do not perform any kind of credit check. We are however required to complete an identity check.** There will be no imprint left on your credit score as a result of applying for an STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card.**

What if I fail the ID check?
We need to verify your identity to supply you with a Card. You will need to login online and upload proof of ID. Please allow 48 hours for us to verify your ID document.**

What ID documents should I supply?
You will need to upload and provide us one of the following documents:

• US Driving Licence
• US State ID
• Passport

Why do I need to supply a photo?
As the STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card is also an ID card we require a picture of you to use on the Card.

What are the photo requirements?
To process your Card order we need a photo of yourself, this will be printed onto your Card. Please note that your image should be max of 5MG, a JPEG or PNG format, vertical headshot, in colour and your face should be clearly visible. You will be able to see how your image fits into the required space as you upload and you will be able to reposition and crop it to fit centrally in the image space on your Card.

Once your photograph has been uploaded and verified your Card will be ordered and should arrive within 2 weeks.

My photo has been declined how do I upload a new one?
You can upload a new photo by logging in to your Account.

Why do I need to provide proof of study?
The STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card is a student ID Card, so we need to verify you are a full time student to issue the Card.

What documents do you require for proof of study?
You will need to send the documents outlined below as proof of study:

• A document that proves you are a full time student at a recognized US School, College or University (course schedule or tuition receipt).
• Your university or student ID which is dated and clearly indicates you are a full time student.

Once you have uploaded your documents and we have verified you are a student your Card will be ordered and should arrive 2 weeks.

Why do I need to set a secret number?
When completing your application you will need to set up a 4 digit secret number. You will need this to pass security when you phone customer care. When communicating with us via text/SMS/email, please do not include any personal information such as account number or social security number.

How long will my card take to arrive?
Please allow 2 weeks for your Card to arrive.

I haven’t received my card what do I do?
Please call or email our customer care team and they can check on your Card’s progress. Call 1-855-407-6688 or +44 203 503 0298 from abroad or email customercare@staisicusa.com. When communicating with us via text/SMS/email, please do not include any personal information such as account number or social security number.

WHEN YOUR CARD ARRIVES

How do I activate my card?
You will need to activate your Card before you can use it, you can do this in a number of ways:
• By phone: call 1-855-407-6688
• SMS: text ACT and the last four digits of your 16 digit card number to 27109

The SMS will only work if your cell phone number has been preregistered as part of the application process. Standard message and data rates from your wireless service provider may apply.

What is my PIN number?
You will receive your PIN (Personal Identification Number) by SMS shortly after your application.

What do I do if I’ve forgotten my PIN number?
If you need a PIN reminder you can view your PIN online. Simply login to your online Account and navigate to “My Details” section, then click View PIN

Can I change my PIN number?
No you can’t change your PIN, please memorize it. Never store your PIN with your Card. If you forget your PIN you login online and view it.

Why do I have to enter my PIN number?
Your STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card is protected by Chip & PIN technology. Chip and PIN couldn't be easier to use. Instead of signing a paper receipt to verify a card payment, you enter a four-digit PIN.

I have blocked my PIN number, how do I unblock it?
If you enter your PIN incorrectly 3 time your Card will be blocked. To unblock it you will need to call customer care on 1-855-407-6688 or +44 203 503 0298 from abroad. When you call you will be asked for some digits from your four digit secret number. This is the secret number you entered as part of your application. After you have been verified, your account will be unblocked and you may login to your online account to view your PIN. The PIN does not change.

PIN’s will not be communicated by customer care agents – you will always have to login to your account to view the PIN.

USING YOUR CARD

Where can I use my card?
You can use your Card wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance Mark, currently 35 million locations worldwide including 2 million ATMs.

Can I withdraw cash from an ATM?
Yes you can withdraw cash at over 2 million ATMs worldwide, wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance Mark.

How much can I withdraw from an ATM?
You can withdraw $500 in the USA and $300 abroad on a daily basis. Please refer to Schedule A for more information.

Can I use my Card to book hotels and car rentals?
When traveling, we advise against using your Card to secure a reservation or as a guarantee for future payment (i.e. – hotels, car rentals etc.), as the merchant may pre-authorize a set amount which is much higher than the final bill. They will refund the difference, however this may take up to 30 days to credit your Card.

How do I load my card?
There are a number of ways to load your STA Travel ISIC Prepaid MasterCard:

With a Debit card
Register a debit card with us and load your Card directly. Simply login online and click on the section ‘Load your Card’. Note: Your Bank may charge you a fee, please consult your Bank for more information.

By ACH and Direct Deposit
You can also reload funds onto your Card directly from your bank or credit union via ACH (electronic funds transfer). This is a quick and easy way to transfer funds directly from your checking or savings account onto your Card. Note: Your Bank may charge you a fee, please consult your Bank for more information. Direct deposits can also be made to your Card. Contact your employer or payer for details on how to set this up direct deposits to your Card.

With cash at Green Dot
Top up your Card with cash using the Green Dot Reload @ the register service. Simply hand over the cash and your Card to the cashier. Your load amount will be available on your Card within 10 minutes. You can find your nearest Reload @ the register service Note: A reload fee applies, this fee may vary across Retailers so please ask the assistant at the counter to advise you of the fee.

How long will it take for loads to be applied to my account?
Debit Card Within 24 hours*
ACH/ Direct Deposit Up to 4 working days
Green Dot 10 minutes
*with a registered debit card. The first load from a new card will take up to 3 working days.

How do I check my balance?
You can check your balance using these handy tools:

SMS:
To check your balance by SMS text the below codes to 27109 or +1-888-690-1548 if abroad. This service is only available if your cell phone has been preregistered. Standard message and data rates from your wireless service provider may apply.

Note: please replace XXXX with the last 4 digits of your 16 digit card number.

• For your Card balance: BAL XXXX
• For your eccount balance: BAL ECC XXXX

Online:
Login online to view your balance.

Telephone:

At an ATM:
You can check your Card balance at an ATM, there is a charge. Please refer to Schedule A

Can I get a companion (secondary) card on my account?
You cannot have companion Cards on an STA Travel ISIC Account.

I have forgotten my password, how do I reset it?

How do I update my personal details?
Login online to update your mobile number and email address under the 'Your Details' section.

How do I update my address?
You may contact our customer care team to inform us of a change of address. Call 1-855-407-6688 or +44 203 503 0298 from abroad.

To update your address you have to provide us with a recent utility documents displaying your new address. You can do this by logging to your online Account

Where can I view my transactions?
You can view your transactions when you login online.

How do I download my transactions?
You can download your transactions at no cost wherever you are in the world, simply login online and go to the ‘Transaction” tab here you can view and download your transactions. We do not mail out monthly statements, however if you would like one sent to you, you can request one.

What is an eccount?

Your Card has the functionality to move funds off your Card and set them aside in an eccount, this is a handy feature to help you budget and keep your money safe whilst traveling.

You can set aside funds in your eccount quickly and easily which makes it a great tool to help you stick to your budget. What’s more, the money you have set aside can’t be accessed from your Card unless you move it back onto the Card, meaning if your Card is lost or stolen the funds you have set aside can’t be spent.

How do I set aside funds?
It’s quick and easy to set aside funds from your Card and vice versa with these tools:

What is an available card balance?
“Available Balance” means your Balance less Set Aside Funds and preauthorization’s (described below).
“Balance” means the total amount of funds designated to you and on deposit with us in your Account.

How secure is my card?
Your Card is safe and secure. Transactions are protected by Chip and PIN which means you have to enter your PIN when making transactions in person, at shops, and also when withdrawing cash from ATMs.

LOST AND STOLEN CARDS

How do I report my card lost or stolen?
You can report your Card lost or stolen using the below methods:

How do I Block/Unblock my card?
You are able to block and unblock your Card for additional security. Please note if you block your Card you will need to remember to unblock it before trying to use it.

Can a Lost or Stolen card be replaced?
We will replace your Card if it is lost or stolen, simply report it and we will issue you with a new Card with the same expiry date as your previous Card. We will also transfer the remaining balance of your previous Card onto your new Card.

What should I do if I suspect fraudulent activity?
You can block your Card quickly and easily using our SMS service, simply text the below codes 27109 or +1-888-690-1548 if abroad. This service is only available if your cell phone has been preregistered. Standard message and data rates from your wireless provider.

Note: Replace XXXX with the last 4 digits of your 16 digit card number.

You should then contact us immediately and our customer care team will help you.

I don’t recognise a transaction on my card statement, what do I do?
Contact customer care and they will be able to help you with this matter.

Will I be charged any fees for using my card?
Yes some fees apply. Please refer to the Schedule A


How long is my card valid for?
Your STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card is valid for 12 months. When your Card expires you will need to apply for another card. If you still have funds on the expired Card these may be transferred onto your new card, provided that your new Card application is successful. **

I’d like to close my account. How can I do this?
To close your account and deactivate your STA Travel ISIC Prepaid MasterCard, call Customer Service on 1-855-407-6688 or +44 203 503 0298 from abroad.

You may request a check refund of the funds remaining in your Account by contacting us by telephone. Our customer care team can be contacted on 1-855-407-6688 or +44 203 503 0298 from abroad. What is Cash FLEX?
Earn 5% cashback on all purchases when you pay using your STA Travel ISIC Prepaid Card online or at any STA Travel stores worldwide. Your cashback will be credited within 14 days! For more information, click here. Cash Flex is the cashback program administer by STA Travel.^

How do I start earning CashFLEX cashback?
Earn 5% cashback on any purchases with STA Travel when you spend using your Card online or at any STA Travel store worldwide

How long will it take for my cashback to be credited?
You can expect to see your STA Travel earned cashback within 14 days of the transaction appearing in your eccount.

How can I check if my eccount or card has been credited?
Login to your secure online Account to view your statement. Cashback credits appear as ‘cashback credit’ on your statement.

How do I file a claim on my travel insurance?
If you purchased your Card with April travel insurance option you can file a claim using the details below^:

How do I opt out of SMS?
This first SMS you receive from us will include your PIN number.

What this means for you: When you open a Card Account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you.
