(DALLAS – October 16, 2007) STA Travel, the world’s largest student and youth travel organization, and Keep A Child Alive have partnered to help fight the AIDS pandemic in Africa. Through the “Good Cents Initiative”, college students across the US can participate in a creative online contest asking them to compose a song, direct a video or write an essay about making a difference. Three winners will go to Africa where they will work side by side with Keep A Child Alive, courtesy of STA Travel.
Beginning October 16 through November 26, students can visit www.statravel193.com/KCA to enter the contest and submit their most innovative song, video or written essay describing how they will inspire their peers to transform small change into a big difference. The top three submissions will be announced by KCA spokesperson, Alicia Keys, on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2007.
To date, there are over 12 million AIDS orphans living in Africa alone. Keep A Child Alive is dedicated to spreading awareness and providing treatment and care for children living with the disease. The Good Cents Initiative not only involves students in making a difference, but reminds them that even the smallest change can impact the lives of those in need.
“Keep a Child Alive is in the business of saving lives,” says Kate Otto, director of the KCA College Program. “We are thrilled to work with STA Travel to continue engaging students nationwide in our business through the Good Cents Initiative. AIDS is the greatest tragedy of this century, but we will make it the greatest victory of our generation.”
“STA Travel is fortunate to be partnering with such an inspirational organization like KCA College,” said Scott Hyden, president of STA Travel North America. “Together we hope not only to fight AIDS, but to expose American college students to the growing concept of making a genuine contribution to the world through meaningful travel”

About Keep a Child Alive
Keep a Child Alive is an urgent response to the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa, and dedicated to direct action. With more than 25 million already dead, the disease continues, wiping out whole societies, threatening economic infrastructure and creating tragic devastation in the family structure. Our work makes it possible for children and families to obtain life-saving AIDS drugs and support for survival, where without it, they would die. Through our groundbreaking advertising and media campaigns, we are re-inventing the way the public perceives their role in this issue. KCA currently funds 12 clinical and orphan care sites in 7 countries: India, Kenya, Mali, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe; with past funding of additional projects in Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Africa.
