Budget

Meals on Inca Trail and Amazon Jungle included. Allow USD25-30 per day to cover meals, snacks, drinks, limited souvenirs, laundry, and any extras. Optional excursions if not doing the Inca Trail Trek include horse riding USD20, mountain biking USD20, white water rafting from USD25, Cuzco salt terraces tour USD25, optional city and local area tours allow USD20, museums and small options not mentioned are covered by the recommended spending money.

Itinerary

Day 1 Lima

Arrive Lima.

Day 2  Cuzco

A short flight to Cuzco and the rest of the day free to explore this amazing Andean city. The maze of streets and Inca sites set high above the city will keep the most avid explorer fascinated.

Days 3 -5 Inca Trail Trek (or free time)

Today we leave for our trekking expedition through valleys and mountains to reach the sacred city of Machu Picchu. The trek will take three days of walking through various terrains and landscapes. Our porters look after everything, leaving you free to enjoy the view as you go. If you prefer not to trek, there is extra free time to explore and relax in the Cuzco region before taking a day trip to Machu Picchu by train.

Day 6 Machu Picchu - Cuzco

This morning we begin before dawn in order to reach Machu Picchu at the famous Sungate for sunrise. Our guide will give you a tour of this magical Inca kingdom, then you will have free time to explore independently before the afternoon train leaves for Cuzco.

Day 7 Sacred Valley - Cuzco

A beautiful, full day tour to the Sacred valley, following the Urubamba River and stopping at the Inca sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo among others. Perhaps try the famous local brew of "chicha", made from corn.

Days 8-9 Amazon Jungle 

A flight now to Puerto Maldonado and the heart of the Peruvian jungle. Our lodge is accessed by motorized canoe and we have two days to explore the rainforest. There is a good chance to see wildlife which may include various species of birds, monkeys, capyvara, tapir and giant otters. Evening caiman (alligators) spotting is a favorite.

Day 10 Lima

We fly back to the captial and have free time to visit museums and churches of the old city. Don't forget to try the famous frog juice or the local seafood delicacy called ceviche.

Day 11 Lima

Depart Lima.
