Tip: What's the one thing you can't travel without?

I cannot travel without a good quality backpack.

After 9 months backpacking in Thailand and Australia, lugging round a HUGE backpack the size of a house, I really came to appreciate the luxury of minimal packing!

This month’s STA Travel expert is Hanna Lowe What countries have you traveled to?  What was your most memorable travel experience?  What is your ultimate backpacking trip?

Hannah has worked at The University of Tennessee branch for a little over two years.

 France,
Germany,
The Netherlands,
Greece,
Australia,
Singapore
and
Thailand.

I am really looking
forward to
adding Africa
to that list at
the end of this month!

A 4-wheel driving tour at Kakadu National Parkat the top end of Australia.  The tour leader was a real Bushman, who swam in his clothes, just hanging them up to dry by the fire at night while he cooked the kangaroo tail meat in the fire for our supper!  He also took us out on a boat to spot crocodiles.  When he pulled out a cooler of horsemeat and attached it to a piece of rope attached to a stick and started dangling it over the side into the water to attract the crocodiles, I knew it was going to be an unforgettable experience!  The crocodiles were longer than the boat: I definitely felt the adrenaline pumping looking those crocs in the eye! After 3 years of living here in the US, I still have not made it to Central orSouth America, and I think the ultimate backpacking experience for me would be to go toPeruand hike the Inca Trail.  Maccu Picchu is definitely one of those places that I hope to see...one day...!  I'd also really like to travel along the West Coast of the USA, too!
