You’ll need to decide which language to study, the city in which you want to study, and how long you want to stay. We recommend staying at least 2 weeks. You’ll have an even better experience if you stay longer. Your course, accommodation, activities courses, and transfers are all included in a package price. Language classes are available for all levels and you’ll be tested the first day of class and then placed appropriately.
With a little planning, you could take classes as you travel. If you want to make your way across Europe, consider taking classes in France and Italy! You could polish your French in Paris and then take a cooking course in Rome.
Right now, get almost $500 off French on the Riviera, save up to $120 on Spanish in Mexico, and get one week free of Spanish in the Dominican Republic when you study for three weeks.
TEACHING
English teachers are in great demand around the world and teaching is a great way to earn money while living in a foreign city! Teachers are needed in Asia, South America and Europe. You can live on your own or stay with a host family.

TEFL certification and teaching positions in Asia, South America and Europe! More info>> |
First thing is to become certified to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). This can be achieved in as little as one weekend or you can take your time and do an online course. You’ll learn how to teach the basics of the English language: grammar usage, pronunciation and intonation, and reading comprehension. You’ll also learn how to manage a classroom and assemble lesson plans.
Once you’re certified, STA Travel can help you find and apply for a job.
The experience of teaching overseas is unforgettable and opens a new world of possibilities for you.
Hang Pham is from Orlando and teaching English right now in Tochigi, Japan (about 2 hours north of Tokyo). “I teach in a little sleepy Japanese town called Tochigi, it’s about 2 hours north of Tokyo and I’ve been over here for almost 2 years now. The actual job has been an awesome experience as I taught Junior High School students for the first year and over the last year I’ve been teaching 2 & 3 year olds at a private English preschool. I’ve had so many memorable experiences here, one which comes to mind for me is going to a local wine festival last year and sitting on the side of a hill, sipping wine underneath the grapevines while listening to a jazz band, looking out across the Cherry Blossom trees and feasting on some amazing Japanese food. Truly unforgettable! One of the great things about the job, however, is the amount of holidays I get: four weeks at summer, two weeks at Christmas and two weeks in spring, all paid for, which I’m happy to say has all gone straight into the “travel fund”!! My time here in Japan is almost up though as in July I will be heading to Sydney to start post-grad school in Australia.”

VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering in foreign countries is growing in popularity, and with good reason.
You can choose from a large variety of interesting projects all over the world. Would you have ever thought that you could report for a newspaper in India, assist in a healthcare center in Ghana, develop your tourism skills in China, or teach diving in South Africa? These are all volunteer positions and they’re just a sample of what’s available.
You can volunteer anywhere from 1-24 weeks in any of about 35 countries. If you’d like to volunteer AND travel – go on a Meaningful Tour. You’ll volunteer for a specific amount of time then go off and explore the country on an organized tour. Meaningful Tours include projects on wildlife and environmental conservation, painting and building up communities, and interacting with orphans and teaching social skills.
Volunteering can bring out the best in you. You’ll get the opportunity to experience a foreign country and its people while helping improve their quality of life. It’s an experience that you’ll remember for the rest of your life and one that is highly impressive when discussed during a job interview. Trust us.
