Standard Paper Ticket

Changing the Travel Date

Tickets purchased in the US:  If you purchased a “paper ticket” (i.e. you have actual cardboard flight coupons for each sector of your trip) changes may only be made by contacting the airline directly once you have departed North America. Find a list of airline phone numbers below.

STA Travel must make any changes prior to your departure from North America directly. Please either contact your local STA Travel branch or call (800) 836-4115. Paper ticket holders will be required to return their original tickets to STA Travel before any changes can be processed. After departure you must contact the airline directly.

Many airline tickets are subject to advance purchase requirements. These rules are printed on your Blue STA Travel Itinerary. Your STA Travel Advisor will discuss these and any other restrictions with you when you call to request your date change.

Changing the Route or Itinerary

Depending on the type of fare you purchased, your route may or may not be changeable. Some fares may be upgraded to the next applicable fare requiring you to pay the difference in fare plus any fee. For further information before departure contact your local STA Travel Branch or call (800) 836-4115. Paper ticket holders will be required to return their original tickets to STA Travel before any changes can be processed. After departure you must contact the airline directly.

Extending Ticket Validity

Tickets are valid for the dates shown on the ticket itself and cannot be extended. Depending on the fare type you have purchased, some tickets may be applied toward the purchase of the new ticket for the dates you require. You will pay the fare difference plus any fees associated with the exchange. For further information before departure contact your local STA Travel office or call (800)-836-4115. After departure you must contact the airline directly.

Obtaining a Refund

Depending on the type of fare you purchased some tickets may be refunded directly by the carrier or may only be processed by the STA Travel location where you purchased your ticket. Please contact the STA Travel location where you purchased your ticket and our staff will advise you on the specific rules on your ticket and/or calculate and process any refund due.

Lost Tickets

In the event your ticket is lost or stolen before departure contact the STA Travel location where you made the original purchase. After departure you will need to contact the airline directly. You will be required to pay lost ticket fees, as determined by the airline, and any difference in fare, to have your ticket reissued.
