If You Had a Year of Free Travel...Where Would You Go?

Fraser Island, Australia

Imagine that you could design your ideal itinerary!

Which countries would you visit and what would you do while you were at each destination?

Airfare, accommodation, tours, food, drinks – if STA Travel paid, what plans would you make? Well, it’s going to happen for one lucky customer!

Just Imagine!!!

We’ve teamed up with our student travel loan friends at MyRichUncle to fund one year’s-worth of travel for one lucky customer. You would have the money to get out “there” and explore whichever parts of the world you desire, if not go ‘round the whole thing. If you’re a full-time student, this prize could mean that you get to experience really great trips during your breaks from school. Or, you could take a year off from school to travel. Either way, you’ll be expanding your horizons, exploring new cultures, meeting new people and gaining a view of the world shared by your fellow student travelers. Your parents will be thrilled as will we. So start thinking about where you want to go. To help get you started, we’ve jotted down some of our favorite destinations broken up by when you might visit them.

Winter Break Packages

5-nights lodging

4-day lift ticket

ski from $309

Winter Break

This is a great time to go skiing or snowboarding because a whole lot of your classmates will be doing the same. The resorts LOVE to throw parties during Winter Break and heat things up at night after you’ve come in from the cold.

Hit the slopes of these great North American resorts:

  • Breckenridge
  • SilverStar
  • Aspen
  • Heavenly
  • Killington
  • and more!

Of course you could think bigger here and fly off to Delhi, India for skiing in the Himalayas. Seriously. You can actually hit the slopes here any time of year and enjoy swooshing through fresh snow on your umpteenth (yet still enjoyable) trip down the mountain. You won’t get the frills that North American resort towns offer. Instead you’ll experience something most of your classmates never will. Plus, it’s really cheap to ski here. The bigger cost comes from getting here.

Spring Break

Ah, Spring Break. Sun, surf, seniors and senioritas, margaritas, and parties galore. For this particular leg of your trip, live it up with your classmates or at least a couple hundred people your age who all just want to have a good time.

Beach destinations that we love include:

  • Cancun
  • Acapulco
  • Nassau, Bahamas
  • Negril, Jamaica

With any Spring Break package, you can get airfare, rooms, drinks, meal plans, and optional party passes and side trips.

Spring Break 5-night specials from $479:

*round-trip airfare

*7-nights hotel accommodation

*round-trip airport transfers

*14 meals

*30 hours of free drinks

*daily beach and pool parties

*all air and hotel taxes

*optional party packagesand side trips

The more exotic destinations are Fiji, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Barbados and Punta Cana, and you can get an affordable package deal to each one! In fact, our package deals will help you reserve your Year of Free Travel “trust fund” for your pricier destinations.

Details about Spring Break 08 will be out soon! Keep an eye on the home page of www.statravel.com

Keep an eye out for the October issue of STA Travel Addicts for SPRING BREAK 08 and more great info about these beach destinations as well as our other hot spots around the globe!

Summer

When the summer rolls around, it’s time to jet off to Europe. Check out this continent’s hottest capital cities and visit the smaller town and villages along the way with an organized tour or by train-hopping.

Organized Tour

With an organized tour from Topdeck or Contiki, you board an air-conditioned bus with a group of fellow student travelers and set off for a trip full of fun, sightseeing, inside jokes and more. You’ll be lead by a guide who will tell you all of the history about the cities you’re visiting (Rome, Paris, Prague, Amsterdam, etc) plus really cool and interesting information about each place. This isn’t your mother’s type of tour. You’ll have a lot of fun and will be constantly entertained. An organized tour can help you visit the cities you want and see everything you want without the stress of having to organize anything. Plus, you’ll get free time to see other stuff not covered on the tour and can partake in optional activities!

Summer

Topdeck from $499

Contiki  from $719

Rail Europe from $21/day

Eurail Passes

Train-hopping with a Eurail Pass lets you go where the wind takes you! We here at STA Travel can’t say enough good stuff about the train system in Europe. It’s cheap, flexible and easy - wait, where have we heard that before? You pick the type of pass you want based on where you want to go and for how long. You decide when you want to travel then hop on board.

Depending on how long you stay in Europe, you can easily take an organized tour AND train hop. We highly recommend doing both because you’ll get the best of both worlds.

Fall

For fall, you’ll have your airfare back to school covered. Plus how about checking out cities you’ve never been to or returning to your favorites – like, Chicago, L.A., New York, D.C., Seattle, N’Awlins. With the “Year of Free Travel”, you could also show that you’re a die-hard football fan and actually go to each road game of your college’s football season.

And then you’re home.

These are just a few ideas of where you can go and what you can do if you won a “Year of Free Travel.” It’s all up to you.

Enter this fabulous contest at http://www.statravel193.com/, our online travel community (which you already know about and have visited, right?). Just create a profile and follow the rest of the instructions. While you’re out traveling, remember to update your profile with blogs, pics and videos – show your fellow student travelers what an incredible time you’re having. We’ll be excited to see it all, too.

As always, happy travels!
