Madrid’s airport (10miles) is connected to the metro system (line 8) and takes 12 minutes to reach Nuevos Ministerios station, where you can connect to themetro. A shuttle bus leaves from outside the arrival terminal every 10 – 15 minutes and drops you at Plaza de Colón. Taxis cost around $23 to the center.
