Travel around New Zealand for up to 12 months and work legally! The Working Holiday Visa means you can work any job you want and get paid with direct deposit into a New Zealand bank account.

Plus, the New Zealand Working Holiday visa lets you:

  • enter New Zealand at any time within 3 months of the visa grant date
  • stay for up to 12 months in New Zealand
  • leave and re-enter New Zealand any number of times in the 12 months from the date of first entry

You'll make:

Hourly earnings start at about $9 but there's plenty of opportunity to earn more than that!

What kind of jobs can I take?

There's no restriction on what you can do. But, you can only stay at a job for up to 6 months.)

Basic Information

Eligibility:

  • Between the ages of 18 and 30
  • Living outside of New Zealand when you apply for and are granted the visa
  • Have a US passport That’s valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure from New Zealand
  • Have a round-trip ticket or the money to buy your return ticket plus enough money to get started in New Zealand, generally $3,200.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
  • Have adequate travel insurance coverage during your stay in New Zealand
  • Be coming to New Zealand to holiday, with work being a secondary intention for your visit.
  • Have not been approved for a visa under a Working Holiday Scheme before.

Travel

You can leave and return to New Zealand as often as you want, but just remember that the time you spend out of New Zealand is not added back on to the length of your visa. When you're 12 months are up, they're up.

Go with a friend.

If you want to travel with a friend, spouse or significant other, they must also apply for a Working Holiday Visa. Applicants can not be accompanied by dependents and/or children.
