Just announced: Turtles and Treetops Experience
Your help is needed to conserve sea turtles, a remarkable element of Costa Rican heritage that's under threat of poaching. This is a common practice, though it's decreased from over 95% to 10% thanks to conservation projects.
Divide your time between rescuing sea turtle eggs from the beaches/taking care of them in the hatcheries and zip-lining through the jungle and living among the treetops for 2 days!
- 3 days rescuing eggs and tending to them
- 2 days camping in tents mounted on decks build among the treetops of the jungle
This project is being offered at a Spring Break special price of $995.
Space is limited: Surf and Save Sea Turtles
Turtles are under threat in Costa Rica and volunteers are needed to help with conservation efforts. Play a part in an ongoing struggle to save a remarkable piece of Costa Rica's heritage. This project takes to you to the beautiful beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula, where you can pack a truly wonderful experience into one week. Working with a Costa Rican NGO, the municipal government and a local surf school, you will take an active part in vital efforts to conserve the Olive Ridley, Black, Hawksbill and Leatherback turtles. All of this, combined with daily surfing lessons, adds up to a rewarding and fun project.

Space is limited: Building homes
Many Costa Rican families live in homes that lack adequate sanitation or weather protection. Volunteering on this project puts you alongside the families in need to build better homes with local, sustainable materials. You will be working with a housing association founded in 1989, which now specializes in providing housing to rural populations. The foundation currently works with 62 rural organizations distributed across the seven provinces of the country such as cooperatives, local agricultural centers, and labor and community development associations. While you might not see the house completed while there, the reward comes from working with the families whose lives you are helping to change.
