It's the seat of government and home of the Imperial Palace, but you get everything here from the Harajuka girls in Jingu-bashi to Kabuki-za theater in Ginza to techno geeks in Electric Town.

Beijing is one of the "Four Great Ancient Capitals" of China and the second largest city after Shanghai.

It's been a center of art, culture, history and politics for centuries and everywhere you go you see evidence of this. Visitors experience the ancient traditions with a visit to the Forbidden City, a walk along the Great Wall and visit to the many museums showcasing the various dynasties, like Ming, Jin, Han, and Qin.

Beijing has long been a modern city but transformed itself for the Summer Olympics and expects to continue to reap the tourism benefits for years to come. Should be a really interesting stop on this 'Round the World trip!
