Starting in Buenos Aires is an excellent way to kick off this trip because it's buzzing with excitement!

Tokyo is "a manic, hyperurban cosmopolis obsessed with newness," yet deeply rooted in tradition and its ancient history. It's located on Japan's main island, Honshu, and the greater area is actually made of up 26 cities. So, Tokyo is basically huge and offers a ton to see and do.
It's the seat of government and home of the Imperial Palace, but you get everything here from the Harajuka girls in Jingu-bashi to Kabuki-za theater in Ginza to techno geeks in Electric Town.

From Tokyo, you'll head northwest to the northeastern corner of China to Beijing.
