Time for Thailand

She spent the next 6 days exploring Bangkok and other parts of Thailand that are off-the-beaten-path. She loved it!

Check out Rachel's video. It's fantastic! You can see the incredible effect this beautiful country had on her. In fact, we aren't quite sure she's gonna come home...

Rachel in Thailand

Chiang Mai to Bangkok

Intrepid Travel wants you to really experience a country and its people and these adventures emphasize the journey itself, not just the destination. So, Rachel will get as much out of making her way from Chiang Mai to Bangkok as she will being in both cities.

Intrepid would love to have you anytime! So, if you're ready now to get on board this exciting trek, visit your local STA Travel Branch or call (800) 781.4040!

Day Where  What
1 Chiang Mai Thailand's beloved Chiang Mai is a hive of activity. Explore some of the 300 temples, take a cooking class at the famed Chiang Mai cooking school, bargain hard at the night bazaar, or rent a bike and head to the countryside to warm up the legs for your hilltribe trek.
2-4 Hilltribe Trek

Pull on your boots and head to the northern hills for a fantastic adventure through rural landscapes and remote villages. Wander along village tracks, past rice terraces, and banana forests to reach our village huts. Staying in the huts is part of the fun and a great chance to get to know the locals and learn about their life. The villagers grow rice and vegetables along the slopes and when in season, this makes for a colorful backdrop for your trek. On the return journey, take it easy on the last leg and grab a ride from an elephant!

5 Chiang Mai/ Overnight train

Back in Chiang Mai you'll have plenty of time to see more sights and revive your body. Get a traditional massage, walk up to the Doi Suthep temple or have a chat with a monk at Wat Suan Dok before boarding the overnight train bound for Bangkok.

6 Bangkok

This fantastic adventure comes to an end in Bangkok. For those who wish to stay on for a few days, there is plenty to see and do and the city provides a striking contrast to the laid-back lifestyle of the hilltribes.
