Think Rome

Rome

Have a Roman holiday

So, Rome has your attention. The Eternal City is perhaps the most difficult to describe. Just about every positive adjective you can think of applies to this 2,800 year old city. However, the best sights of Rome lie in the architecture. Consider the city a non-stop architectural marvel. You can thank emperors such as Cesar, Nero and Claudius for being vain enough to insist that monuments and palaces be constructed in their honor. Rome has plenty of amazing sites and tastes for you to explore.

How are you going to get there?

Think Rome is out of your budget? Thanks to STA Travel, that's just not the case. Depending on your departure city, a flight to Rome is going to take around 8-12 hours to touch down, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to explore.Check out these amazing deals on airfare.

Fight the urge to jump in to the Trevi fountain by packing plenty of cool clothing when you visit Rome in the summer. If you plan to indulge on Italian ice cream, the best gelato shops are the ones that refuse to serve their ice cream in a cone. These ice cream maestros think that adding anything to distract from the pure taste of the gelato is like an insult to the customer, so the best serve their ice cream in a little cup.

Where are you going to stay?

Ok, so the flight's covered. Now, we have to think about where you're going to crash. Chances are, after miles of sightseeing you're going to be interested in one thing  only...  a bed. Hostels are perfect for that.

Not exactly sure what hostels are? Well, hostels are communal accommodations geared toward those travelers who want to sleep on the cheap. You can get a private room in some hostels, but accommodation is usually dormitory style with several beds to a room, sometimes co-ed. Bathrooms and showers are usually shared among several rooms. Many hostels offer additional amenities such as a communal kitchen, lockers or baggage storage,  Internet, TV lounge, or a tour desk.

If you're having bad flashbacks of freshman year in the dorms, then you probably prefer hotels.  Hotels vary around the world and most are much smaller than hotels that you are familiar with in the U.S. If you're looking for something with all the amenities of an American hotel, then you need to choose at least a 3-Globe hotel. You can search STA Travel's wide variety of accommodations by clicking the orange button below.

What do you want to do?

It's no secret that the dollar is struggling against currencies like the Euro. Obviously, that makes it even more difficult for American travelers to explore and experience everything full throttle. Check out our solution.
