Part III - Adriatic Voyager

Topdeck took Pat from Rome to Venice via the Adriatic Sea. He visited Albania, Croatia and Montenegro en route. Topdeck designs trips for 18 to 30-somethings who want to explore the wonders of the modern and ancient world. Pat got comfy on his luxury coach bus and had a blask with his newest best friends!

Italy, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia

This adventure had Pat:

  • gliding through the sea by yacht
  • experiencing scenic drives along the Dalmatian Coast
  • exploring Slovenia’s Postonja Caves (Europe’s largest underground cave system)
  • finding out first-hand why Venice is such a famous city and worth visiting again and again

The breakdown:

 Day Where  What You'll Do
1-2 Rome/Vatican City Join fellow travelers and Trip Leader in Rome. Walking tour of Spanish Steps, Church of the Capuchin Monks, Victor Emmanuel Monument and more. Some of the world's best known art treasures are at the Vatican and an optional tour here is extremely popular.
3-6 Flotil la Sailing in Greece Overnight ferry to Greece to set sail on the Ionian Sea, flotilla sailing guided by our local skipper. Swim and soak up the sun by day and enjoy fine Greek food at local tavernas by night.
7 Tirana, Albania On to Albania, a country for so long cut off from the world by its Communist leaders. Now its people warmly welcome travelers. Guided tour of the capital city.
8-9 Herceg Novi, Montenegro/Dubrovnik, Croatia North to Montenegro and the gorgeous coastal scenery surrounding Kotor Bay. A day trip to the old fortified city of Dubrovnik, surely one of the world's most spectacular.
10 Zadar, Croatia Drive up the Dalmatian Coast reveals an unbelievable coastal vista. Awaiting us at journey's end is another beauty, the walled city of Zadar.
11-13 Venice Slovenia is next and the Postojna Caves, the largest underground cave system in Europe. Then to the city of canals, Venice. A vaporetto ride on the Grand Canal is a great way to see the city as is our walking tour with a local Italian guide through the maze of back streets seeing such gems as St. Mark's Square, the Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto Bridge. An optional gondola ride is also a must! Trip comes to an end day 13 after breakfast.
