The staff at the desk were friendly and helpful with city and travel details.
The breakfast room was large and bright with plenty of tables and chairs.
People mingled and chatted in numerous languages as they ate their self help breakfasts of plenty of cereals, fruits, buns, tea and coffee.
i stayed at a time when there were new students starting the new uni year and others just arrived to find jobs and travel.
There was also a whole room with 8 computers at reasonable usage rates.
The shower room on my floor was being renovated so I had to use the one downstairs.
However there was a basin and taps in my 4 bunk dorm room.
Location was the best thing about this hostel, it also had wirless.

The Hostel had a few computers so it was easy to access the internet. They also had wireless which was good if you had your own laptop.

It was okay for a hostel, but unless you have a particular reason for wanting to be on this end of Downtown I would definitely recommend HI Central instead which in Granville Street which is a lot more accessible location and a far nicer hostel.
Both have dark dingy hallways, but HI Downtown had terrible bathrooms where as Central's are actually very very nice. The breakfast and kitchen at Central is a lot better too and the staff are really helpful. Downtown is okay that is the area you really want to be in but I didn't like this hostel very much at all.
