surrounded by other traveling students/young people, so cool because i could make friends if i were traveling alone. i don't have much experience with hostels, but the bathrooms seemed a bit gross; however, from what i have heard, this one is much cleaner than others. i would recommend that the MAD Hostel do either: 1: provide night lights because if someone is sleeping, it gets difficult to navigate around the room at night when the only light in the room is turned off. or 2: tell travelers to bring their own night light so they are prepared for a situation like that. I would also say that their type of key is a good idea, since it's easier to keep track of! I also really appreciated the lockers provided in the rooms to keep valuable in!

Honestly, nothing. The staff was rude. It was super hot and humid, obviously this is typical climate in Madrid during the summer months however, guests are not given the ability to turn on/off the A/C as they please. You have to walk downstairs and ask the front desk to turn it on. The A/C only stays on for about an hour which is barely enough time to cool off. The rooms are outside so it is super loud. Noise policy is not enforced. The rooms are super small and packed tight. Overall, it was a bad experience.

Staff were unfriendly and not helpful. Breakfast is either a doughnut or a croissant. I had to leave early the day I left, and although the croissants had arrived they said I wasn't entitled to it because breakfast didn't start for another hour. If you can find somewhere else for the same cost or less, I say go there.
