Ideal for Students and Party-aficionados ONLY!

I definitely enjoyed my 3 nights at The Point Hostel, but have to admit it's not for everyone. The atmosphere was very party-going and the layout of the venue meant that most of the dorms were right next to the bar with only thin wooden doors between beds and the pumping music all day/night. I was very lucky to be in the room furthest away from the bar, which meant perfect peace when I eventually wanted to go to sleep.
Staff were very friendly and spoke good English. Most were backployees so they hung out at the venue off duty, which gave a great college vibe to the place. The location was FANTASTIC, only 15mins by cab from central Lima and about 2 minutes walk from the best coastline outside of Rio. You could stand on top of a cliff and see the orange sunset on the Pacific ocean every afternoon.
Cleanliness: Adequate. Floors got a little dirty but it was just dirt from the garden area and the floors were cleaned more than once a day.
Facilities: 2 comps with internet, travel agency, stacks of DVDs to watch (not that you could hear it next to the bar), great bar with foozball and pooltable, good beer garden, toilets and showers were a bit run down but worked fine. The kitchen menu was where most of my money went, despite the close proximity to a supermarket. The free breakfast kinda sucked, but no complaints for the price of a room. Adequate by Western standards and definitely good value for money.
Safety and Security: Wrought-iron front gate with CCTV, doorbell and intercom. 5 star.
Value for money: 5 stars. Many westerners coming through the venue so you'll make lots of outgoing friends really easily. I would recommend for any/all college students and party-goers, but especially solo travellers such as myself.

The point Lima was quite far from the city but approx $10USD in a taxi to the centre, so pretty cheep.
There was alot of facilities around the point bars, restaurants etc, probably not the safest part of town but not the worst by far.
was ok
