Convenient location, super friendly, helpful staff and most importantly -THE BREAKFAST! Especially if you love top quality, French style cakes and pastries. And there´s lots of healthy stuff too as well as good coffee! Enough to keep you going all day. SO GOOD WE´RE GOING BACK THERE!!!

A nice, affordable, comfortable hotel in a REALLY dodgy area! Rooms were clean and fairly spartan - ideal for the no frills traveller. Our room on the second floor opened onto the street, so not so quiet at night time but generally ok. There was no fan in the bathroom which meant a lot of steam, and the whole bathroom floor would also become wet due to the shower curtain. The bed was not long enough for a tall person such as myself, and the pillows were rock hard. A great selection of cable channels to choose from. We particularly liked the free access to internet downstairs, and the friendly staff who helpfully told us where we could go for what we needed. However, once you got out the front door it was a different story! The hotel was located in the heart of San Telmo, which is a trendy/funky/indie neighbourhood with great little food places and tango clubs - however, walking around at night time we definitely DID NOT feel safe. Even walking a few blocks felt like running a gauntlet. The streets were dark with random people standing on corners and in doorways, homeless people sleeping on the street, and garbage bags strewn all over the footpath five minutes after they had been put out. Sometimes there were no people around which felt worse! I enjoyed the hotel that much more because it was such a RELIEF to arrive there after dark. Some cafes/restaurants have security guards outside, but they are not on every block. On the way home we ran into two older ladies who had been walking in San Telmo the week before, and had a foul-smelling substance like bird poo dumped on them from above. A well-dressed local gentleman was at hand with a wet-wipe to kindly help them clean up, and when they had picked up their bags and continued on to the famous San Telmo weekend market, they discovered that their purses were gone. AND when they went to the police station to report the matter, they came across lines of foreigners who had had the same thing happen to them. Perhaps this review is more about San Telmo than the Bohemian, but if I had known the specifics about the location, I would not have stayed there. My partner is from Bogota, and even she said San Telmo was really dodgy in comparison, like Bogota ten years ago. I would recommend the Bohemian to chillaxed travellers who would like all the trendy restaurants and indie environment, but at the same time, wouldn't mind all that much if there stuff gets ripped off, or they get mugged.
