Lovely, friendly hotel within a walkable distance to St Mark's Square.

The location meant that we weren't in the busiest places all the time, it was great being able to walk to St Mark's Square within 30 mins but still be able to relax a little more closer to the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with great recommendations. Having air con and mosquito blinds were also a bonus! Venice is an amazing city just to wander around, even without going to the 'main attractions', staying where we did meant we got to experience this more. Everybody we met was lovely, the fruit stalls at the markets were fantastic and the food was amazing at most of the restaurants. I don't think we could ever appreciate pasta and pizza in the UK ever again!

Clean and servicable, friendly, attentive staff

It was a quick walk from the train station. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and they served real espresso (not from those horrible auto machines) in the morning for breakfast. It was also relatively small and quiet, being well off the beaten path and not on a main street or any canal. We had a room off the courtyard, with good windows and light (though the courtyard had smokers and talkers).

Although Villa Rosa is tricky to find, this hotel is definitely a hidden gem and I recommend this is anyone looking for something affordable, comfortable with a delicious breakfast. Once you can find this hotel (which is only a 5 min walk from the train station but down a tiny road) it’s centrally located to the canals, restaurants and water buses. The hotel is clean, with comfortable furnishings, modern bathrooms and guest computers. All staff were friendly and had good local knowledge of attractions and the best things to do.
