By studying abroad, you will have the opportunity to become part of the local culture and traditions that are unique to your host city and gain a global perspective in the process.

ISA allows students to customize their program options based on types of housing, coursework and language of instruction, while providing the right balance of independence and support. To maximize the students' study abroad experience, several of ISA's host institutions offer academic internships. Students who choose this option will be enrolled in an ISA program. They will elect to take an internship course through the host university and, upon completion, receive a host university transcript for their coursework. More about internships >

Experiential Learning Abroad Programs (elap), a division of ISA, takes participants beyond the traditional confines of the classroom, connecting them with the local community. elap aims to make a positive impact on the international communities we serve and bring unique people and cultures together. There are hundreds of local non-profits, medical clinics, schools and businesses from which to choose. Individuals participating in elap have the option to receive academic credit through the University of Kentucky or seek credit at their home institution. More about ELAP >
