Day 1 Christchurch / Queenstown

It's an early journey from Christchurch - that 7.15am start won't hurt as much when you look out the window though. Take in the stunning passing scenes of Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo and the MacKenzie country and you'll barely remember the car journey. Once in Queenstown, get settled in the camp you'll be staying in overlooking the lake and town. You'll be happy to know you're only stumbling distance from town after a big night out this evening! Just so you know, this tour offers great flexibility and if you'd like to get to Queenstown a few days earlier that can be arranged!

Day 2 Queenstown

As the adventure capital of the country, don't think for a second that you'll be sitting on your laurels on this free day in the city. Throw fears to the wind and go for an adrenaline pumping bungy jump, canyon swing, skydive or paraglide. If you'd rather not launch yourself into the air, go for a horseback riding trek, cycle, sail or even a gondola ride - you'll be able to appreciate the beautiful views more! After a jam-packed day, you'll spend a relaxed evening by a lake with spectacular views of the Mount Aspiring National Park.

Day 3-4 Mount Aspiring National Park / Fox Glacier

Pick between a morning lie in or an optional jet boat through dramatic scenery-- tough decision. Take the bus or choose to cycle over the sensational Haast Pass, boasting incredible views of the Southern Alps. Spend the day traipsing through rainforest and past rushing waterfalls and tranquil pools to the wild West Coast. Tuck into a delicious picnic lunch then head to New Zealand's icy Glacier Country. Set up camp at Fox Glacier, a true wonder of nature. Spend the next day walking around the icy landscapes, whether on a guided tour, heli hike or ice climb. You can even opt for an optional cycle or walk around Lake Matherson! Leave the glacier behind and head up the coast to camp at Okarito beach.

Day 5-6 Hokitika / Paparoa National Park

Magnificent early morning walk with a chance to spot a Kiwi in the wild. Then take a trip to visit the fascinating Bushmans Museum. Then it's off to Hokitika and its famous greenstone factories. Appreciate the beautiful scenery around you on an optional coastal walk and cycle through leafy forests then travel to the Paparoa National Park. Home to the fantastic Punakaiki pancake rocks and blowholes (they do genuinely resemble giant stacks of hotcakes!), you'll also catch the sunset before heading over to explore the Punakaiki cavern for glowworms. The next day is dedicated to traversing the dramatic national parks. Insider tip: high tide is the best time to view the blow holes and low tide is when you should visit the secret wave rock. At night you'll be glad of a chilled night next to the campfire.

Day 7-8 Abel Tasman / Marahau

Today, you'll visit New Zealand's crowning glory - the beautiful Abel Tasman region. Want a bird's eye view of it all? Opt for a skydive, hang glide trip or fly an aerobatic plane (yes really!). Cycle the golden bay to Marahau, where you get to camp for two nights with Abel Tasman National Park right on your doorstep. Jackpot. On Day 8, get up and explore the National Park, be it by kayak, sailing or walking - your choice!

Day 9 Nelson / Malborough / Picton

Your next destination is Nelson, with a coastal cycle on Tasman's Great Taste trail to look forward to. Then it's on to Malborough, New Zealand's premier wine region. After an optional winery visit, hopefully your vision won't be too blurry on the way to Picton - you'll want to remember the scenic fery through the Malborough Sounds to Wellington.

Day 10 Wellington / Tasman Sea

You have time to explore Wellington before departing at 11am. With museums, theatres, galleries and boutiques galore, not to mention fantastic scenery, it's worth the early morning start. You'll travel the Kapiti Coast and will pass on through Mount Taranaki, with an option to get out and stretch your legs on a short coastal cycle or walk. You'll have to force yourself to bed once you reach Tasman Sea - overlooking the coast, sleeping will just seem like wasting a good view.

Day 11 Waitomo Caves / Auckland

On Day 11, head to Waitomo Caves, a limestone wonderland created by erosion over millions of years. Today is filled with fantastic optional activities that you'd be crazy to pass by - from blackwater rafting to a farm walk, there's something that will appeal to everyone. Arrive early into Auckland and get a small taste of what life as a Kiwi is like. Make sure to test out some of the restaurants and bars afterwards!

Day 12-13 Bay of Islands / Paihia

With the city in your rearview mirror, make your way to the golden beaches and warm waters of the Bay of Islands. Get some fresh air at the beautiful Urtiti beach - take advantage with some of the free boogie boards! Next, it's Paihia for a mangrove walk to thundering Haruru waterfalls where you'll cycle a scenic route to a riverside camp. In the evening, you'll want to experience a traditional Maori concert and Haka. When in New Zealand…

Day 14 Opononi / Waipoua Forest / Auckland

Cross over to the West coast to the dunes of Opononi, for some beach fun or a session of sandboarding. Choose whether you have the energy to cycle or just hop on the bus to Waipoua forest to walk amongst the giant Kauri trees. Next, it's Hibiscus coast to camp near Waiwera hot pools. Simmer in its steamy waters or go shooting down its many water slides - it's a favourite amongst travellers for a reason!
