Day 1 Yerevan

Days 2-3 Yerevan and surrounds (2B,1L)

Drive to Echmiadzin. Visit the famous cathedral then continue on to Khor Virap through villages and vineyards. Visit the monastery with fantastic views of Mt Ararat. On Day 3 enjoy an excursion to the Roman temple of Garni. Visit Garni Gorge, enjoy lunch

On Day 2, drive to Echmiadzin, the country's ancient capital city. Visit the famous cathedral, one of the world's first Christian churches (built in the 301 AD). Continue on to Khor Virap through villages and vineyards. Visit the monastery, a pilgrimage site and fantastic views of Mt Ararat. Return to Yerevan for some free time to visit museums or explore the city. on Day 3 enjoy an excursion to the Roman temple of Garni, dedicated to the God of the sun, Mithra. Visit Garni Gorge, a UNESCO site. Enjoy lunch in a local home and watch how lavash bread is made. After, visit the 13th century Geghard Monastery. Return to Yerevan with time to stroll the café-lined streets of the city.

Days 4-5 Tbilisi (2B)

Drive to Lake Sevan, stopping by monasteries, before continuing north to the UNESCO-listed monastic complex of Sanahin. Cross into Georgia and continue to Tbilisi. On Day 5 enjoy a city tour including a visit to the Old Town, Metekhi Temple, the Abanotuba

Drive to Lake Sevan, the largest lake in the Caucasus Region. Stop by monasteries on the peninsula before continuing north to the UNESCO-listed monastic complex of Sanahin, a beautiful example of medieval Armenian architecture. Cross into Gerogia and continue on to Tbilisi, the capital city. On Day 5 enjoy a city tour. Red-tiled roofs and narrow streets mixed with stark Soviet architecture creates a unique and intriguing atmosphere. The city tour will include visiting the Old Town, Metekhi Temple, the Abanotubani 'bath district' and the Narikala, the main fortress in Tbilisi. Free time in the afternoon to continue exploring the Old Town, visiting the Georgian National Museum or taking a cable car to view the city from above.

Day 6 Mtskheta/Gudauri (1B)

Drive the famous Georgian Military Road to Mtskheta, ancient capital of Georgia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Continue to Uplistsikhe cave town and on through the dramatic Aragvi River Valley. Dr

Drive the famous Georgian Military Road to Mtskheta, ancient capital of Georgia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This group of historical churches in an ancient capital of Georgia showcases examples of medieval architecture on ancient trade routes. Visit the Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Continue to Uplistsikhe cave town, dating back to the 7th century BC. After, drive through the dramatic Aragvi River Valley and into the Caucasus Mountains to Gudauri, known as a popular ski town in winter months. Visit the mountain town of Kazbegi.

Day 7 Kazbegi/Tbilisi (1B)

Cross the Jvari Pass to reach Kazbegi. Walk up (1.5 hrs) to Sameba Church for gorgeous views of Mt Kazbek. Head back to Tbilisi for another night in the city, visiting Ananuri architectural complex en route.

Cross the Greater Caucasus Range on the Jvari Pass (2395m) and head down to Kazbegi (1700m), a picturesque town where we can stretch our legs. Walk up (1.5 hrs) to Sameba Church for gorgeous views of Mt Kazbek, a massive 5000m+ peak! Head back to Tbilisi for another night in the city, visiting Ananuri architectural complex, set against a stunning backdrop, en route.

Day 8 Kakheti/Sighnaghi/Telavi (1B,1L)

Head into the Kakheti Province, dotted with churches and vineyards, to the town of Sighnaghi. Enjoy a local lunch at a family's home in one of the villages in the area. Visit Tsinandali Park before continuing on to Telavi for the night.
