Day 1 Auckland

Day 2 Hahei (1B)

Enjoy a morning cycle through Karangahake Gorge, then travel onto Hahei for the afternoon.

Early morning departure to Waihi, to pick up your bikes and ride through Karangahake Gorge. The trail is suitable for cyclists with little experience. Following along an old railway line and through an old rail tunnel and along the river that runs through the gorge. Continue onto Hahei by bus and enjoy a walk to Cathedral Cove this afternoon. If the tide is right, grab a shovel and dig a natural jacuzzi on in the sand on Hot Water Beach. Karangahake Gorge Approximate distance cycled: 8km/4.9mi Estimated hiking time: 1-2 hrs

Day 3 Rotorua Marae (1B, 1D)

Visit a geothermal area with boiling mud and hotpools. After a traditional greeting on the Marae, learn the traditional arts of the Haka and Poi before a traditional Hangi dinner.

This region of New Zealand is renowned for its geothermal qualities. Travel to Rotorua, with free time to experience the regions geothermal wonders. Opt to mountain bike in the world famous Redwood Forest, go white water rafting, or indulge in the therapeutic hot springs. After an engaging cultural experience on the grounds of a historic Maori village, enjoy a Hangi dinner, cooked in an underground pit.

Day 4 National Park (1B)

Conquer the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, New Zealand's top-rated 1-day trek. Spend the afternoon on an active volcano.

An early start to walk across the Tongriro Crossing, New Zealand's top-rated 1-day trek. Collecting supplies before the trek, the transfer will drop the group off for the self-guided trek and collect eveyone at the other end. Experience spectacular views while traversing across the volcanic range, one volcano is currently active. We ensure that you are prepared by going through a safety checklist and taking you to buy the supplies you might not have for the 19.4 km trek. The elements can consistently be changing, remember to dress accordingly and bring snacks. If the weather is too bad for the trek there will be alternative options such as smaller walks in the area or a visit to remote hot springs. Additionally, if you do not wish to do the Tongriro Crossing other activities can be arranged. After finishing the trek travel to a ski lodge on the side of a mountain for the night. A spa and sauna on site will help ease those tired muscles. Estimated travel time: 3 hours driving time, walking time depending on group speed and size. Travel distance: 180 km driving, 19.4 km walking

Day 5 Whanganui River Camp (1B, 1L 1D)

Canoe along the Whanaganui River to your overnight camp, in the heart of Whanganui National Park. Enjoy a dinner of food taken from the wild.

The third longest river in New Zealand, the Whanganui River begins at Mt Tongariro, and flows all the way out to the West coast of the North Island. After a safety briefing, embark on a 31km canoe journey downriver to your overnight campsite in the heart of Whanganui National Park. This evening, enjoy a dinner of food taken from the wild.

Day 6 Snowy Waters Lodge (1B, 1L, 1D)

Continue along the Whanaganui River by jet boat visiting old Maori and European settlements before continuing onto Snowy Waters Lodge by bus.

In the morning, trade your canoes for a jet boat and continue downriver. After a short walk to the Bridge to Nowhere, re-board the jet boat and return to our bus, travelling onto Snowy Waters Lodge for the night. Enjoy a delicious dinner.

Day 7 Wellington (1B)

Transfer to Wellington. Visit the Te Papa Museum before the tour ends.

This morning transfer to Wellington, and visit the Te Papa museum, dedicated to the history and culture of New Zealand.
