Day 1 Puerto Maldonado / Bajo Tambopata River / Posada Amazonas

After arriving into Puerto Maldonado meet your guide before taking a relaxing two hour boat trip by motorised canoe on the Bajo Tambopata River - eat lunch aboard the boat as you watch the likes of Black Skimmers, Capped Herons, and Bat Falcons flutter above your head. Once at the Posada Amazonas Lodge, take a short walk to the 30 metre scaffolding canopy tower - climb it for spectacular views of lush forests and the winding Tambopata River. Keep your eyes peeled for toucans, parrots or macaws on the horizons - birds will be landing in the treetops right next to you!

Day 2 Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake

After breakfast it's off to the Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake - paddle in a catamaran and keep an eye out for the resident family of nine giant river otters. After a delicious lunch, head out on an Ethno-botanical tour where you will learn how locals use the forest in their everyday life, for food and medicine to construction material and fibre. After a hearty dinner, decide if you have enough energy for a night hike - it is worth it as this is when most of the mammals are most active so don't miss out!

Day 3 Posada Amazonas

Get up early for a fascinating trip to a parrot clay lick - it's not as strange as it sounds. Watch an early morning congregation of colourful parrots dance around the bank as each one competes for a beakful of clay - it can last until the macaws sense danger and depart simultaneously in an explosion of sound and colour. After, it's time for you to get active. Embark on a two hour hike and get to see the largest tree in the vicinity - a giant ceiba! During the hike learn all about the natural history of the rainforest before tucking into a tasty lunch (and don't worry, it's not clay). Next on the list is the most complete farm in the Infierno community. Boasting a diverse range of popular and unknown Amazon crops, just about every plant and tree in his garden serves a purpose - and you'll learn all about it. Spend the evening dining and chilling out on your last night in the lodge.

Day 4 Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast make your way back to where it all began in Puerto Maldonado and catch any departing flights from 10am onwards.
