Day 1 Rio de Janeiro/Paraty

You will be picked up from your choice of airport or a hotel in Rio for your trip to nearby Paraty.

A representative will meet you at the arrival gate in the airport or at your hotel in Rio, who will transfer you to the Paraty. If arriving by flight on this day, please arrive by no later than 12pm (noon). If one wants to escape for a few days to another world, try the small, quiet, enchanting world of Paraty. Paraty is a colonial town, 250km south of Rio and about 3 hours out of Rio down the Rio/Santos road, which has been splendidly preserved in its original state by the National Trust. Heavy iron chains block off all motor traffic from the narrow cobble-stoned streets of the old town where visitors may enjoy 18th Century charm combined with 21st Century comfort in charming hotels. The town covers an area of roughly six-by-six blocks, perched on the edge of the bay - a crisscross of tiny streets lined with whitewashed colonial houses, doors and window frames painted bright blue, yellow or rust, flowers and vines spilling over the high garden walls. There is an old fort, several churches, a crafts museum and a beach. Down by the water's edge the pier is lined with dozens of boats available for anything from an hour's ride to an all-day cruise around the island-dotted bay, with a stop for picnicking and swimming off a deserted beach. At the height of its glory, Paraty was a busy tobacco port. Cut off from the mainland by impassable highlands and forest, it communicated directly with Europe and imported its colonial style straight from Portugal. Roads and railroads gradually reduced its importance. But no road was ever built into Paraty, so, like those villages in legends and fairy tales which sleep for 200 years, Paraty slumbered on, forgotten and frozen in time.

Day 2-3 Paraty (2B)

Explore some of Paraty's 65 islands and hundreds of beaches on your half-day schooner tour. Enjoy Day 3 at leisure with option to rent a bike and explore on your own, or take a short tour of a sugar cane distillery.

Half day Schooner cruise with lunch. Paraty has over 65 islands and hundreds of beaches of rare beauty, calm and crystal clear water, perfect for diving. It is surrounded by exuberant vegetation which makes it peaceful and unforgettable. The route through the Paraty Bay has three stops, including: Lula Beach, Vermelha Beach, Algodão Island among others. Enjoy Day 3 at leisure. A day for optional excursions like bike rentals, or visit to a ‘cachaça (sugar cane spirit) distillery.
