Day 1 Cairo

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.

If you arrive early there are plenty of things to see and do in this amazing city. Visit the Saladin Citadel of Cairo one of the most popular attractions in the city, or to really get a feel for the place, get lost in the bazaars and join the locals for a coffee in a local cafe. Day 2 Cairo/Alexandria (1B)

Embark on a guided tour of the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx and opt for a camel ride at the pyramids. Continue to the historic Mediterranean city of Alexandria.

We begin with one of the key highlights of any visit to Egypt, the Great Pyramids of Giza. While once located in remote desert, they now touch the suburbs of modern Cairo. Also visit the mysterious Sphinx, with its lion's body and man's face. In the afternoon we drive to Alexandria, where we will spend the next two evenings. Day 3 Alexandria (1B)

Spend the day exploring this ancient seaside city, including Pompey's Pillar, the catacombs, and the new Alexandria Library.

We have plenty of time to explore all the incredible sites this ancient city has to offer. Founded by Alexander the Great around 331BC, Egypt's only Mediterranean city is characterized by a distinctly European atmosphere and a refreshing sea breeze. Don't miss the chance to enjoy an optional seafood dinner at one of the city's many outdoor seaside restaurants this evening. Day 4 Alexandria/Aswan (1B, 1D)

Head back to Cairo with a tour inside the monasteries of Wadi Natrun en route. Visit the Egyptian Museum with the option to see the mummy room before boarding our overnight sleeper train to Aswan.

Additional Notes: Please note that you should be modestly dressed this morning with shoulders and knees covered for our visit to the monastery. Day 5 Aswan (1B, 1D)

Arrive early to Aswan and opt to explore the busy Aswan market. Later, take a scenic felucca ride on the Nile to a Nubian village and enjoy a home cooked dinner with locals.

Aswan has a distinctively African feel to it. Small enough to walk around and graced with the most beautiful setting on the Nile, the pace of life is slow and relaxing. Late in the afternoon, board a local boat, known as a felucca, to take a trip along the Nile. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the river in this busy port city. Our final stop is on the largest of the Nile islands in this area to enjoy a traditional dinner at a local home. Included Activities: Felucca Sail to Nubian Village

Day 6 Aswan (1B, 1L, 1D)

Early in the morning, fly to the famed temples of Abu Simbel for a guided tour. Later, board our river cruise ship for the night. Opt to visit the Aswan high dam.

Day 7 Aswan/Kom Ombo (1B, 1L, 1D)

Spend 2 days floating down the Nile on a luxury river boat with guided tours of Kom Ombo and Edfu Temples en route. In between excursions, relax on the outside decks with a drink, watching the passing desert sands.

Following breakfast, we set sail. Before too long it is time for our first shore excursion, with a visit to Kom Ombo, a temple dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god. It still contains an ancient mummified crocodile. Included Activities: 3-night Nile Cruise Kom Ombo Temple Visit

Day 8 Kom Ombo/Luxor (1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy an excursion in Edfu, travelling by horse-drawn buggy to visit the very well preserved Temple of Horus.

Day 9 Luxor (1B)

Visit the Colossi of Memnon and enjoy guided tours of the Valley of the Kings and Temple of Hatshepsut. Also enjoy the unique experience of visiting a Planeterra-supported library and community education centre, then later have dinner in a local family's

After checking in to our hotel, our day starts with a visit to the exciting ancient sites located on Luxor's West Bank and the famed Valley of the Kings. View key sites and opt to visit the the Tomb of Tutankhamun, whose treasures you saw at the Egyptian Museum. Additional Notes: *If you have pre-booked the Valley of the Kings Hot Air Balloon Ride you will be flying on Day 9. Day 10 Luxor (1B, 1D)

Enjoy an excursion to the magnificent temple of Karnak, then use free time to explore the Luxor Temple or museums. In the evening, enjoy dinner in a local family's home.

Day 11 Luxor/Cairo (1B)

Catch a flight back to Cairo and opt to visit the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, tour Coptic Cairo, or enjoy a dinner on a floating restaurant on the Nile.

Upon arrival in Cairo, the choice is yours. Opt to visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, legendary for fine brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, antiques, and more; or head out to Cairo's most ancient area, Coptic Cairo or perhaps relax by the hotel pool. An optional farewell dinner and show on one of Cairo's famous floating restaurants is also available. Transport: Plane (1.00-1.50 hours)

Day 12 Cairo/Amman (1B)

Fly to Amman, Jordan. Transfer to the hotel and meet your new CEO this evening.

Day 13 Amman/Dead Sea (1B, 1D)

Enjoy a guided visit of Jerash, one of the largest and most well-preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy. Continue to the Dead Sea with the option to swim and enjoy health and beauty treatments that use natural sea salts and mud.

After breakfast, set off on a half-day trip to Jerash, a fascinating place and one of the largest and most well-preserved Roman sites outside of Italy. Next, head to the Dead Sea. Afterwards, relax under an umbrella next to one of the freshwater swimming pools or enjoy the other facilities at the resort hotel. Why not indulge in an optional massage or one of the other health and beauty therapies available? Day 14 Dead Sea/W?d? M?sá (1B)

Visit the ancient town of Madaba, famous for its mosaics and churches. View Israel from the summit of Mt Nebo and visit the desert crusader castle at Karak.

Depart early today for the long but very interesting drive by way of the King's Highway to Petra. The first stop is Mount Nebo, which is believed by many to be the site of Moses' death and has thus been a centre for pilgrimage since the earliest Christian times. Visit the town of Madaba which has some of the finest Byzantine mosaics in the world and Karak Castle, the largest late Islamic castle in Jordan. Arrive in the early evening at Wadi Musa, our base for the next 3 nights. Day 15 W?d? M?sá (1B)

Enjoy a guided full day tour of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with 2-day entrance allowing plenty of free time to explore.

Enjoy 2 full days to explore this wonderful site. After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a full-day tour of Petra. The guide will give a brief history of the city, which the Nabateans carved from the living rock of the surrounding mountains. The site is large, but group members can set their own pace depending on the weather and the interests of the group. Included Activities: Petra Guided Tour

Day 16 W?d? M?sá (1B, 1D)

The morning is free to return and explore Petra at your own pace. In the evening, enjoy a cooking demonstration and a dinner of local specialties.

Day 17 Petra/Wadi Rum (1B, 1L, 1D)

Take a tour of 'Little Petra' before continuing to Wadi Rum in the heart of Jordan's desertscape. Enjoy lunch at our lodge then take a 4x4 desert excursion.

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Al Beidha, also known as 'Little Petra'. This site is literally hidden away in a mountain and is a miniature version of Petra. It contains a number of notable tombs and offers a glimpse of Petra without the crowds. Later, drive to Wadi Rum, a vast, silent landscape of ancient riverbeds and the largest and most magnificent of Jordan's desert landscapes. Enjoy lunch head deep into the desert on a 4x4 excursion. Visit water reserves, natural arches, sands dunes, Rock bridges and enjoy the sunset with cup of Bedouin tea before heading back to the lodge for dinner. Day 18 Wadi Rum/Amman (1B, 1D)

Return to Amman and enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
