Completely built at tree top level over the Amazon river, The Ariau Amazon Towers is a true jewel of the Amazonian Rain forest. First opened in 1987, this Eco friendly hotel was built by Dr. Francisco Ritta Bernardino under the inspiration of the world renowned oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. The Ariau Amazon Towers hotel is located 35 miles (60km) in a northwestern direction from Manaus. It rises on the right bank of the Rio Negro and at the beginning of the Anavilhanas Archipelago, the largest fresh water archipelago in the world. It is home to one the most beautiful sceneries in the whole amazonian rain forest and it is surrounded by all of the diversity of the jungle. The hotel has 3 wooden towers linked by catwalks (all about 30 feet high, tree top level), making it the largest tree top hotel in the world. Standard rooms have a beautiful view of the Amazon and all of it's flaura and fauna. All are equipped with air conditioner, mini-bar and private bathroom.
After an early breakfast, you’ll be taken on a trek through the jungle to learn more about this delicate environment. Be sure to take your camera! After lunch, you’ll be taken by motorized canoe to a local village, where you meet some of the native inhabitants and learn more about life in the jungle. After dinner you’ll enjoy a caiman-spotting excursion. The Amazon Rainforest was awarded World Natural Heritage by UNESCO status in 2000, and 2003. Next to the grandeur of the Amazon's natural giants, prepare to be overwhelmed by an unusual sense of smallness. Here you will learn medicinal secrets of the endangered and, in many cases, extinct indigenous tribes, snuggle sloths, drink water from the insides of trees, watch monkeys swing through the magnificent branches of "the world's lungs", marvel at lily-pads the size of your kitchen table, eat fruits you never would have imagined existed, canoe through the endless waters stopping to fish for piranhas and visit with local river dwellers, capture dazzling sunsets, and fall asleep at night hypnotized by the symphonic hum of the ecosystem. The Amazon has only 2 seasons, the rainy season and dry season. Rainy Season - From December to June. Temperatures ranges from 73F (23C) to 86F (30C). Dry Season - From July to November. Temperatures ranges from 78F (26C) to 104F (40C).
After breakfast, you can either take an optional excursion or relax at the hotel, perhaps making friends with some of the resident monkeys! After lunch, you’ll learn an invaluable jungle skill: piranha fishing! Afterwards, you’ll enjoy your final dinner at the hotel.
Rise early for the optional excursion to see the Amazon’s famous pink boto dolphins. This is an opportunity not to be missed. Return to the hotel around noon and then later travel back to the airport in Manaus. There are two transfer possibilities from the Ariau Amazon Towers. The second transfer is at 2pm, arriving at 4pm (flights shouldn't be booked before 6pm). Leaving at 2pm you will have the option to go on the pink dolphin excursion.
