This is a premium volunteering programme. Volunteers will work on a range of award-winning community and environmental projects that are designed to improve the lives of rural Borneo communities and protect fragile wildlife habitats. Includes working with children, incredible wildlife viewing along the banks of the Kinabatangan River, habitat work and trekking within the jungle and a day trip to an orang-utan sanctuary.

    - Key involvement in ongoing community projects, including construction, teaching and sports - Work on environmental project in Lower Kinabatangan region of eastern Sabah - Visit to Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary - Opportunities to Scuba Dive, Mountain or jungle trek as well as R&R days - Eastern and Western Borneo locations including home stay, jungle camping and community camp

  • Programme Highlights

    - Community development work in Sabah (around 3 weeks) - Approximately 3-4 days working on habitat conservation projects in Lower Kinabatangan region of Eastern Sabah - Day trip to Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary - Visit to Sandakan war memorial - Regular trips to the local town and weekend visit to Kota Kinabalu - Eastern and Western Borneo locations including homestay, jungle camping and community camp - A wide range of additional optional activities including PADI diving, Mountain and Jungle trekking - Cultural performances - Initial orientation of the local area with basic Malay language lessons
