The Community Projects: In rural Tanzania, around 70% of people are living below the poverty line and access to proper sanitation, clean drinking water, healthcare and an education are often limited or non-existent. The major feature of the 1 month Camp Tanzania programme is the vital role you will play in assisting with local community projects and it is likely that you will find this the most rewarding part of your programme. Our community projects are based both in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, at Camp Mbokomu, and at Camp Tanga which is based in a small village 6km south of the town it was named after. The core projects focus on education and initiatives that benefit the local schools and their constantly expanding classes. Project work may include building new classrooms or ablution blocks, constructing housing, working to supply clean water to communities, teaching, desk building, marine conservation, capacity building and much more. The Wildlife Projects: Did you know that 25% of all of Africa¿s Game is located in East Africa? You will go on a fantastic safari visiting some of the most stunning locations Africa has to offer whilst trying to spot the Big Five. You will be taken on a camping safari so make sure you have your cameras ready! Adventure Options: There are loads of great adventures for volunteers to challenge themselves with. There are several mountains that volunteers can trek including Kilimanjaro (9 days - £1360), Mount Meru (6 days - £800) and Mount Kenya (7 days £750). All mountain trekking options must be added on to the end of the programme. Please consult Camps International to confirm departure dates.
