Meet your friendly crew leader at East London Airport for the breezy one-hour transfer to the volunteer house in Chintsa East. Enjoy some time to unpack, unwind and explore your new home! You'll also be given a friendly orientation of the great range of facilities throughout the volunteer base, plus a generous dinner feast will be provided in the evening -- the perfect opportunity to get to know the other volunteers!
Up and at `em...be ready and waiting at the reception at 07:50 for an 8am departure...sharp! Transfer to your delegated school and spend some quality time getting to know the teachers before you meet the kids! Today includes an on-site familiarization and training in the computer lab before a slap-up lunch putting you in great stead for an afternoon packed with sports activities with the kids! A social dinner will be provided back at the base, with the rest of the evening yours alone to enjoy!
Return to the schools to get started on the computer lessons. During these days there'll be plenty more opportunities for outdoor activities with the students, plus enjoy a visit to a local orphanage in order to help the kids with their homework. Another delicious dinner spread will be enjoyed in the evening back at base.
Today is a special visit to the Silatsha School, where you'll be teaching the kids more valuable computer skills on the Big Green E Machine! After a scrumptious communal lunch, get together with the other volunteers for a planning session of next week's lessons...let your creativity flow! And don't be scared to work extra hard because the traditional Braai (BBQ) feast put on this evening will replenish any expended energy...plus plenty more!
Enjoy two free days to explore these stunning surroundings! There is plenty of choice to get up close and personal with nature or the amazing culture, horse riding, canoeing, quad biking, game drives, bike rides and intriguing cultural tours...not to mention the crystal clear, sandy beaches waiting for you just minutes from the volunteer base!
Head down for another rewarding week of computer lessons and sports with the school kids, plus homework tutoring again at the orphanage. Today you'll make a second visit to Silatsha School, teaching computers from the Big Green E Machine! After lunch, take part in a voluntary lesson planning meeting (not necessary for those on two week package) or take time off to roam these beautiful parts some more. Just be sure to get back in time for a repeat performance of the delicious Braai feast...the perfect end to another tough but exhilarating week out on the field!
Enjoy another two free days to catch up on any touring or exploring you haven¿t had a chance to cover yet...or maybe revisit your favourite aspects of this stunning corner of the world!
Say your sad farewells and promise to return soon, as today you will transfer back to East London Airport in good time for your onward flight.
