Immerse yourself one of Asia’s most incredible cultures with this volunteer project in lovely Laos. Teaching novice monks and children in UNESCO-listed Luang Prabang, you’ll get a rare window into their world of rich traditions, plus the chance to sample a simpler lifestyle yourself. Not that there won’t be plenty of play too – you’ll get heaps of free time to explore this riveting region. Think elephant tours, Mekong cruises to the Pak Ou caves, sunsets from atop Mount Phu Si and swimming in the Kuang Si waterfalls. Simply inspirational.
You’ll stay in your own single room in a centrally located guesthouse close to local restaurants and shops. There will be electricity and your room will be clean and comfortable, but be prepared for facilities that are much more basic than you’re used to (please keep an open mind about this – your living standards will be much higher than those of many locals!). Simple meals - Lao and western – will be served on site. Laundry is available, but you’ll have to pay for this separately.
