Day 1 Sydney
Arrive in Sydney at any time. There are no planned activities during the day, so check into the hotel and explore the city. Please try to arrive before 7pm for an important group welcome meeting where you can meet the Chief Experience Officer (CEO) and the other group members. If you arrive early enough, you'll have time to head into the city to visit the Botanical Gardens or the famous Opera House.
Day 2 Sydney (1B,1L)
Today we explore Sydney with a walk along the harbour to the iconic Sydney Opera House and into the Rocks area. We’ll have an early lunch before boarding a sleek former Americas Cup racing yacht for a 2 ½ hour sail on one of the world’s finest harbours. Meet in the early evening for an optional drink or dinner. We may head beachside to Bondi where there are plenty of excellent dining options.
Day 3-4 Byron Bay (2B)
We meet mid-morning to catch our flight to the North Coast of New South Wales. Arrive early evening into beautiful Byron Bay. On the way to our hotel we’ll stop for a walk to the Cape Byron lighthouse located at the most easterly point of the Australian continent. You have the evening at your leisure. Talk to your CEO today about some optional activity options for tomorrow so they can make arrangements for you. Start Day 4 early to enjoy a yoga class to refresh your mind before meeting a local surfer for a surf lesson. We use soft big boards that provide more surface area and stability so everyone has a chance to ride a wave. We have lunch at a local vegetarian restaurant to ensure we fully get into the vibe of Byron Bay. The rest of the day is yours to explore - you may like to walk along the long stunning beach, play in the surf, or simply hang out at the beach hotel and people watch. Optional activities in the area include whale watching (seasonal), kayaking, or day tripping to the beaches. Estimated travel time: 1.5 hour flight, then 45 minute transfer to hotel.
Day 5-6 Airlie Beach/Whitsunday Islands (2B,1D)
Travel to Brisbane and catch a flight, then ferry to the Whitsunday Islands. Relax this evening in this tropical paradise. On Day 6, embark on a half-day sailing around the Whitsunday's then overnight at Airlie Beach. Estimated travel time: 3 hour drive, 1.5 hour fight, 30 min drive Travel distance: 150 km
Day 7 Cairns
Embark on a scenic train journey through sugar cane country and rainforest as we head north to Cairns. Arrive early evening and check-in to a centrally-based hotel before exploring the town and opting for a group dinner and drinks. Estimated travel time: 10 hours Travel distance: 600 km
Day 8-9 Port Douglas (2B,1D)
Travel up the stunning coastal road, stop to meet local Aboriginals and go on an interpretive walk, learning about traditional ways of life and survival techniques. Enjoy the unique opportunity to try spearfishing and gain perspective on how difficult it can be. Arrive mid-afternoon in the colourful resort town of Port Douglas. Take time to stroll the main streets, window-shopping on your way. Spend two nights at a local resort. Option to take a Great Barrier Reef snorkelling trip on Day 9. Day 10 Cairns/Alice Springs (1B)
Travel from Port Douglas to Cairns Airport for a flight to Alice. The flight takes around 2 hours, giving a free afternoon upon arrival to explore. Estimated travel time: 1 hour drive, 2 hour flight Travel distance: 70 km drive
Day 11-12 Uluru (2B,2L)
Early morning departure to drive to Kings Canyon. Enjoy the incredible canyon with a short walk up Kings Creek before heading to Uluru for the night. On the morning of Day 12 awake before sunrise to watch the colours change over Uluru. An interpretive walk around the base of Uluru gives explanation about its significance to local people. Visit the cultural centre to get a better understanding of the area and learn about local beliefs and traditions through artistic impression. The afternoon is at your leisure. Days 13-14 Adelaide (2B)
Early start to travel back to the Ayres Rock airport to catch our flight to Adelaide and enjoy an orientation walk. On Day 14, option to take a full day excursion to Kangaroo Island, a pristine wilderness, in search of some of Australia's most famed creatures. Days 15-16 Barossa Valley (2B,1L)
Travel to one of Australia's oldest wine regions, the world famous Barossa Valley. Here we visit some wineries, enjoying lunch and wine tasting along the way. One of Australia's oldest wine regions, Barossa can be found in South Australia, approx. 60km northeast of the city of Adelaide. Founded by German settlers in the mid 1800's, wine was and is a way of life and many of the 750 grape growing families in the region has been producing wine for multiple generations. Day 17 Robe (1B)
Travel to the coast and spend the night in a quaint fishing Village. Option to visit historic sites or take a walk to the pier to watching the fishermen bring in their days catch. Robe is a small fishing Village on the Southeast Coast of South Australia. Explore the town's seafaring history with over 84 historic buildings and sites, oceanside location and fishing fleets. Day 18 Grampians National Park (1B,1D)
Early start to travel to the Grampians National Park, known for its abundant wildlife. There is plenty of bird watching to be done in the area and it's not uncommon to see kangaroos. We stop at McKenzie Falls and the balconies to enjoy a spectacular walk before arriving at our accommodation that evening. Estimated travel time: 6 hours Travel distance: 500 km
Day 19 Great Ocean Road/Warrnambool (1B,1D)
In the morning we visit an Aboriginal cultural centre. Receive a talk on indigenous culture in the area, giving you a perspective on how it might vary from other regions. Head to the Great Ocean Road to the seaside town Warrnambool for the night. Estimated travel time: 5 hours Travel distance: 350 km
Day 20 Great Ocean Road/Melbourne (1B)
Travel past some of the world's most famous surf beaches along the Great Ocean Road. Enjoy views of the Twelve Apostles and a rainforest walk in Great Otway National Park. Continue to the capital of Victoria for dinner and night on the town. Estimated travel time: 5 hours Travel distance: 350 km
