Travelling New Zealand isn’t just about Scenery, Bungy Jumping and Sheep, nor is it all about unique wildlife and native forests – We believes it’s about experiencing ALL of this! This Voluntour is the perfect way to experience the real New Zealand and everything it has to offer. Take a tour of the spectacular North Island of New Zealand with Magic and you will experience all the beauty, nature and adventure associated with this remarkable country. Add to this a meaningful volunteer project working to preserve critically endangered Kiwi – New Zealand’s most famous native animal, and national icon - in a first-hand conservation project designed to aid in breeding programs and habitat rejuvenation to ensure their long term survival in this ever changing world.
  • Day 1

    After being picked up from your flight make your way into New Zealand’s biggest and most famous city. Explore the harbours, beaches and even volcanoes which make this city so unique.

  • Day 2

    A Magic Bus coach will take you on this journey over the Hauraki Plains and onto the Coromandel Peninsula. Stop off in at the Shires Rest and you have the opportunity to add on a visit to the Hobbiton movie set before entering Rotorua.

  • Day 3 - 6: Volunteering Project

    Includes a personalised selection of the following depending on your areas of interest: Egg-to-Egg Kiwi encounters Interactive participation in Kiwi conservation project Learn Maori customs Visit a local Maori Marae (Meeting house) Install native wildlife tracking tunnels Building forest trails Native bird feeding and night count surveys Collecting and monitoring native seeds Planting and maintaining native tree seedlings

  • Day 7

    Today Magic takes you through the geothermal wonderland of the central North island. To check out volcanoes, geysers, hot pools, water falls and steaming natural wonders - not to mention the thrill of Bungy jumping.

  • Day 8

    Visit Waitomo – home of the world famous Glowworm caves and explore the underground abyss that hides there. We’ll then head to the volcanic plateau town of National Park where to can climb, tramp and ski.

  • Day 9

    Today in National Park you will have the opportunity to add on a guided or unguided walk along the world famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The Crossing traverses the Ngauruhoe and Tongariro mountains which tower above this World Heritage site. If you don’t wish to add this walk you can spend the day exploring National park or undertaking other optional activities such as mountain biking or canoeing.

  • Day 10

    Travel via train up the heart of the North Island. From the comfort of your carriage you will have fantastic views of the National Park, the volcanic plateau, Mt Ruapehu, stunning river gorges and New Zealand farmland and rugged native rainforest.

  • Day 11

    Say good bye to Auckland and depart from your accommodation in the morning.

  • Transportation

    This is a Hop-on-hop-off bus experience operated by a local tour operator.
