We say farewell to Dublin and head north with a stop at Monasterboice ruined monastery with its Celtic High crosses. Then it's over the border into Northern Ireland and Belfast. This city has gone through some remarkable changes in the last few decades and is a highlight of many travellers trip to Ireland. We take a Black Cab tour of Belfast City with a local at the wheel. You'll visit the Loyalist and Republican heartlands, see the famous political murals and learn about the 'Troubles'.
Today we follow in the footsteps of Giants but first a stop at the precarious Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge (weather permitting) where you can sway Indiana Jones' style above the ocean. Then on to the eighth natural wonder of the world – The Giant's Causeway with its incredible arrangement of thousands of hexagonal columns. Home for the night is the medieval city of Derry which will test your emotions as you are brought face to face with its troubled past on a walk through both past and present...
Today we make our way over back over the border and head through the wild, rugged and rural Connemara. We pass along the surfy coast of Co. Sligo to the resting place of world famous poet W.B. Yeats and stop for lunch in Westport. Our stop for the night is Galway, Ireland's cultural capital and festival city, also known as 'The City of the Tribes'.
We'll explore the weird and magical world of the Burren, Ireland's lunar landscape and home to fairies and leprechauns! Hear the Celtic legends surrounding the ancient burial tombs, or dolmens. Then hold on to your hats when we visit the awesome Cliffs of Moher rising hundreds of feet over the Atlantic Ocean. Vertigo sufferers beware! We spend the night in Ennis where the pubs are filled with locals playing traditional Irish music.
Today it's all about breath-taking scenery and adventure. We spend the day exploring the dramatic Dingle Peninsula and take you to the edge of the ancient world. We stop at the stunning Coumeennole Beach before arriving at the party town of Killarney – last night of the trip!
This morning we'll visit Blarney castle where you'll get a chance to give the stone a big juicy smacker and get the legendary 'gift of the gab'. Then we journey through the rebel County of Cork and the Golden Vale of Tipperary on the way to the imposing Rock of Cashel, once the seat of the Kings of Munster before we head back to the 'Fair City' of Dublin where it is time to say goodbye!
