You can arrive at any time on Day 1 as there are no activities planned. There will be a brief meeting in the evening where you will meet your Tour Leader and fellow group members, as well as complete some admin and learn more about our trip to come. After the meeting, you may choose to join your leader and group for an optional dinner in a local restaurant. Today is a good day to visit the Old Town of Dubrovnik if there is time. Overnight on Lapad Peninsula.
Dubrovnik was once a great city state, rivalling Venice for it's wealth and skill, and the walls of the city that remain provide an excellent reminder of the power once held within. Today, after a stroll to the Old Town, we head out on the waters of the Adriatic to get a different perspective on the city. After a safety briefing, head out around the coast and the city walls by kayak, on a route that circles the island of Lokrum, and along the imposing city walls. Be sure to test the water and be surprised by quite how warm it is. Overnight on Lapad Peninsula
Inland from Dubrovnik the land is green and fertile, giving a good idea as to why this land would have been such a good location for a city state to spring up. After a short transfer from Dubrovnik to the Konavle Valley, where we pick up our bikes. Cycling along country track, between vineyards and watermills, there might even be time to stop at a vineyard and get to try some of the local wine. Croatian wine is becoming more popular across the world, and after a day on the bikes, there's no better way to unwind. Overnight on Lapad Peninsula
Time to stretch the legs today and get out around the hills of the city. The peninsula on which Dubrovnik sits is surrounded on all sides by hills. A walk up Srd Hill takes us up over the city, where we can look down on the old town and see the beauty of the city. For those who fancy a more leisurely journey to the summit, there is a cable car that takes you to the top, and back down again. Overnight on Lapad Peninsula
The Dalmatian Coast is dotted with over a thousand islands, many of which are ideal locations to get away from the crowds. We head for Kolocep today, one of the three inhabited Elaphiti Islands. From the port at Dubrovnik, its a short ferry ride across to Kolocep, where we can try snorkelling, trekking or, many people's favourite option, relaxing on the beach. Boat to Kolocep - 5km (approx. 20 minutes) Overnight on Lapad Peninsula
We start today with a bit of a breather from all the action, and take a walking tour around the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Enter the Old Town, and wander past the Rectors Palace, St. Saviour's Church and the Renaissance archiecture of the Sponza Palace. The terracotta roofs that define the Old Town were destroyed during the war, but are now all as good as new and a great sight as you make your way down to the harbour. Stop for a drink and watch ships passing in and out. The next day is free for you to make the most of your time here in Croatia. You can stay at the hotel, return into Dubrovnik, or explore more of the Dalmatian Coast
You are free to depart at any time today. Please note that check-out time from the hotel is normally mid-morning, but luggage storage facilities are available. We are able to organise extra post-trip accommodation if you wish to extend your stay for a few more days. Please ask at the time of booking.
