Arrive in Vancouver at any time. There are a variety of options to get from the airport to our hotel. The Translink service offers a train or bus from the airport, and there are details of where to get a taxi from in the Joining Details section of the trip notes. Once you arrive into your hotel, the rest of the day is free to explore. In the evening we have time for an optional local dinner, to get to know our fellow families better.
This morning is free to enjoy Vancouver at leisure. You could take a bike ride around Stanley Park among the First Nation totem poles lead by your CEO (included), or explore the varied streets of downtown Vancouver by your own. In the afternoon we transfer to Vancouver Island by ferry. Keep an eye out for marine life in the crossing, you never know what you might see.
Returning to the water today, we have a sea kayaking expedition out from Vancouver Island. The kayaking here is second to none, as there is such a wide variety of wildlife you can see here. We are keeping an eye out for seals, which may be swimming around our kayaks. These inquisitive creatures may come right up to us to see what is happening. More than just seals, we may also see moon jellyfish in the water, oyster catchers, herons and other birdlife may fly overhead. A great opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife in such a small area. Spend some time at Willow Beach or Beacon Hills Park in the afternoon, depending on the conditions.
Today we transfer to Tofino. We stop along the way for a picnic by the lake. Our journey continues to the Pacific Rim National Park. This rugged coastline is pounded by the pacific coastline, and is an ever changing presence on the west coast. Walk in the rainforest here, or stretch out on Long Beach.
A morning boat trip in search of whales today. Many species of whale take the route along the West Coast of Canada as part of their migration patterns as they head North for food and getting birth as the water get warmer. We are primarily looking for humpback and grey whales, but we may also cross paths with the mighty orca, as they pass this way. Seals and otters will be around the boat, or just stand back and admire the wildlife. Free afternoon to visit Tofino or play on the beach.
We leave Vancouver Island today, on what is a long day of travelling. We are heading for Whistler, but with plenty of stops along the way. Our first stop is at Cathedral Grove. Walking among the giant douglas trees here, we will feel like we are walking in the land of giants. We take the ferry back to the mainland and drive along the Sea to Sky highway toward Whistler. Day 7 is free for us to try many of the optional activities available here. Canada's most renowned ski resort is a haven for activities during the summer months, and there is something for all the family here. Walking, cycling, treetop ropeways are all available, or if you prefer a round of golf, or the activities in Adventure Centre, the choice is yours. This evening is our last night together, so the perfect time for a group dinner before we leave our new found friends.
Departure day, transfer to the airport in Vancouver.
