Athens
Ancient Greece meets 21st-century Greece right in the heart of Athens. For one you've got the crumbling ruins that transport you into the city's ancient past, then, thanks to the 2004 Olympics, the city centre is full of cultural museums and family-run tavernas. Be sure to check out the 5th-century temples of Acropolis and Parthenon, both sitting on a hilltop. Truly discover the land of the mythical legends and Gods.
mykonos
Mykonos
Mykonos has the perfect blend of wild and chilled - known the world over for its hedonistic nightlife and sweeping beaches, you can easily get lost in the white-washed maze of houses in this alluring island. Take a dip in the azure waters of the Aegean by day, then watch the sunset over the windmills before dancing til dawn on the beach.
santorini
Santorini
Santorini is a picture-perfect island that travelers can't help falling in love with - from its white-washed buildings and churches, unbelievable views, world-famous sunsets (watch one from Skaros in Imerovigli), charming local villages like Fira and Oia, tasty fresh seafood, and beautiful swimming spots on white and black-sand beaches. If you're looking for the ideal Greek island getaway, this would be it.
Ios
One for the backpackers, Ios promotes fun and freedom among young travelers and locals. It's nightlife is pretty special (think fire-juggling bartenders and face painting) but so is its rural countryside. It's easy to lose the crowds if you take a drive out to the sweeping viewpoints and secluded bays, or just stay closer to the centre and get lost in the winding streets, stopping wherever you fancy to sip on a Greek cocktail or two.

The weather in Greece

Greece benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with year-round sunshine, rainy winters and hot summers. The best time of year to visit is April-June or September-October, where it's still warm and sunny (in the mid-20s) but helps avoid the tourist crowds going in peak summer season. If you're looking to visit the islands, then summer officially begins in May, which is a good time to visit before the temperatures start to creep up into the 30s in July.
