Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, or KL as it's often known, combines the old Asian culture with the shiny new. Towering skyscrapers jostle for position amongst ancient mosques, churches and temples on its famous skyline. Yet it's a city that charms those who visit it, with delicious Malaysian street food, lush jungle-style parks and vibrant mix of cultures.

Top things to do in Kuala Lumpur

  • Petronas Towers
Get your tickets in advance if you want a chance of going up the iconic 88-storey twin towers. Designed by Argentinian architect César Pelli, these towers are the centrepiece of modern day KL.
  • Chinatown
This area of the city is where Kuala Lumpur began. Visit the Menara Kuala Lumpur or wander through the old market streets.
  • Batu Caves
13km north of KL, these huge limestone caves are an ancient Hindu pilgrimage site, and one of Malaysia's most iconic sights. Allow enough time to tour the Dark Cave.
  • Masjid Jamek
This beautiful mosque is set on the Klang river and was the first brick mosque in Malaysia.
  • Jalan Alor Night Food Market
Wander through the busy streets of Jalan Alor at night to sample a variety of fresh international Asia cuisine.
  • Islamic Arts Museum
Housing a great collection of Islamic decorative arts, this beautiful building is a sight to see in itself.
