Fiji
The World Traveler Internship started in the tropical paradise of Fiji, down in the South Pacific. The interns spent 11 days with the locals learning about their culture, customs and way of life and having a great time!
About Fiji:
- It's a cluster of islands due east of Australia.
- It's actually made up of 322 islands, of which 106 are inhabited.
- The two main islands are: Vanua Levu and Viti Levu.
- PGA Champion Vijay Singh is from here.
For this first stop of World Traveler Internship, they flew into Nadi, which is located on the western side of Viti Levu and spent two days in Nadi then met their group and headed to the village.
What happened in Nadi:
| Day | What You'll Do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Met the group and leader then boarded the local bus for the rural Fijian village. Used free time to explore the countryside, which includes lush gardens and peaceful Hindu temples, or headed to the markets to snap up a bargain and sample some Fijian fare. |
| 2-13 | The schedule rotated between teaching and building. Worked with the locals to determine where they needed help. Played games with kids, shared meals and jokes with the project team and became a valued member of the community! Learned about the Fijian culture and discovered the area by getting out beyond the village. |
| 14 | Back to Nadi to board the plane for the next stop, the Australian Outback! |
